Roofing and Building Services in Richmond, North Yorkshire

Understand the existing roof before changing it

A repair should address the defect without overlooking the condition of the roof around it. Missing or damaged materials may be part of the problem, but junctions and previous patch repairs can also need attention.

Our roof repair service covers enquiries about leaks and deterioration. If the roof needs more extensive renewal, we can discuss roof replacement and explain the proposed scope.

Tell us if previous work used particular materials or if you have documents relating to earlier repairs.

Chimney and flashing repairs

Chimneys sit above the main roof covering and have their own masonry, mortar and flashing details. A stain below a chimney does not identify which of those components is at fault.

We provide chimney repairs and lead work. The inspection can consider the chimney and adjoining roof together before a repair is specified.

Older buildings and material choices

Where a property has older masonry or distinctive roofing materials, the proposed repair needs to suit what is already there.

If you know the property is listed or within a conservation area, mention this at the outset. Check the applicable requirements with the local authority before agreeing alterations. Do not assume that a material suitable for another house is automatically suitable for yours.

For brick sections that need attention, see our brickwork and repointing service.

Richmond and nearby villages

We welcome enquiries from Richmond and nearby Skeeby, Gilling West and Brompton-on-Swale.

For Catterick, Catterick Garrison or a more rural address, send the postcode and a description of the work so we can discuss the visit. Our North Yorkshire coverage page explains the wider area.
